Regina Brett is the author of God Never Blinks: 50 Lessons for Life's Little Detours. Her first book is an inspirational collection of essays and stories about the lessons life taught her along the detours of life.
She was named a Pulitzer Prize finalist twice, in 2009 and 2008 for columns she wrote for The Plain Dealer, Ohio's largest newspaper.
God Never Blinks was written by popular demand. When Regina turned 50, she wrote a column on the 50 lessons life taught her. A life as an unwed mother. A life as a single parent for 18 years. A life searching for love and finally finding it at 40. A life interrupted by breast cancer at age 41. A life that reflects the ups and downs, twists and turns we all face, but usually not all in one lifetime.
Readers love the column. They post it on their refrigerators. They carry it in their wallets. They tuck it in their purses. They email it all over the country. It has appeared on thousands of blogs and has been reprinted all around the world.
Grand Central Publishing, a division of Hachette Book Group (formerly Time Warner) has sold foreign rights to Brazil, Canada, Japan, Korea, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Taiwan and the United Kingdom.
The lessons in God Never Blinks have traveled the world from Austin to Australia. A Land Rover dealership in Cincinnati hands the lessons out to customers. A cancer care agency gives them out with every wig. Teachers share them with students in health class. A radio host read them on a farm show in Jacksonville, Illinois. The Prairie Post in Alma, Kansas reprinted them for readers. An expo on aging in Grand Rapids, Michigan handed them out in goodie bags. God Never Blinks is the perfect gift for graduates, newlyweds, retirees or for anyone celebrating a birthday or facing a challenge.
Regina has been writing professionally since 1986. She began writing columns in 1994. She has received numerous national and state writing awards. The Plain Dealer is the 16th largest newspaper in the country, with a circulation of 300,000 and a readership of over 1 million.
Her newspaper column focuses on the issues of every day life. Sometimes touching, often funny and always provocative, Regina's columns touch people where they truly live.
For three years, she hosted a weekly call-in radio show on WCPN, Cleveland's NPR affiliate station.
She has a master's degree in religious studies and a bachelor's degree in journalism. Regina has been a guest lecturer at John Carroll University, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland State University, Kent State University and Ursuline College.
Regina is married and has a daughter, two stepsons and a grandson. She lives in Greater Cleveland, where she is working on her next book.
